ABOUT

Océan Bohème is designed for adventurous women who have a passion for the ocean, the environment and and a love for unique boho jewels.

Each and every design is unique.

The jewellery is made from recycled silver, upcycled shells, seaglass found on beaches and hand picked gemstones. The packaging is also 100% plastic free.

This jewellery is as far away from throwaway as possible, designed by myself and handmade by an expert craftsperson to combine high quality, outstanding value and one-off charm that's rare in today's mass produced world.

As there are so many one off pieces the shop is not always up to date  - please contact us if you can't find what you want as we sometimes have similar pieces not yet online.

Ocean Boheme has also committed a minimum of 5% profits to be donated to marine conservation charities including regular donations to Coralive supporting reef regeneration and Surfers Against Sewage who campaign for plastic free seas.  For every purchase made one small coral fragment will be planted by Coralive.org in the Maldives, Seychelles, Philippines, Jamaica or Kenya.

ABOUT
Surfers on the Beach

I started Ocean Boheme from a want to be my own boss.  I had a slight jewellery addiction and could never quite find the exact jewellery I was after.  I had always been into making basic jewellery as a kid and then later stringing together wooden bead and shell necklaces to sell whilst hitchhiking the surf beaches of South West France.  I decided it was time to learn how to silversmith myself.  After a chance meeting whilst training to become a Paddleboarding instructor I met a lady who offered to teach me silversmitihing.

My first piece was a seaglass ring and I was hooked with so many ideas to create.

I hope my jewellery will call to other women who love the ocean and the beachy lifestyle, to travellers who love tropical coconut laden isles and environmentalists who want to protect their ocean playgrounds.

To my surprise my jewellery has surpassed my expectations and people have also liked my designs - which is very flattering as I basically create everything for myself - which makes it hard parting with a lot of my pieces!

If you like salty hair, a wetsuit over a power suit and a good dose of adventure then .

Ocean Boheme can give you jewellery that will bring a smile to your face everyday, showing your unique style, ocean love and environmental compassion.

Thank you for supporting my little business from the coconut crazy, small wave surfer, practicing Asian chef and wanna be underwater photographer.

RONI: ARTISAN

23-1-19-1458.jpg

With designs in mind and pockets full of shells and gemstones, I headed off on an Indonesian surf trip, looking for help with the silversmithing process so I could dedicate more time to designing.  Uninspired by the faceless corporate, gold-guilded factories I had been presented with so far I wondered off the into the backstreets of a silversmithing village where I stumbled upon a guy asleep next to a tiny ramshackle silversmithing studio.  The guy awoke on hearing me ask about silver and introduced himself as Roni, Roni was working for a big jewellery manufacturing company, making very intricate pieces.  After speaking in broken English and Bhassa Indonesian, discussing the designs, he named his price and off I trotted to Nusa Lembongan leaving him with a small selection of shells and turquoise to work on.

On my return to collect the jewellery and it was exactly as I had hoped.  His craftsmanship skills were excellent and he used the best materials possible. Since then our partnership has grown and more designs have been realised.  I returned to meet his whole family on another trip and have seen Roni move to a bigger premises.   During the Covid pandemic Roni lost his work with the jewellery manufacturing company and I kept him busy with new orders despite not needing that much stock!

In buying an ocean boheme piece of jewellery you are also supporting an Indonesian family. It’s an honour to upkeep the tradition of silversmithing and to support this family.  I feel it’s imperative that no single Ocean Boheme product is made by someone who is either forced to make them or under aged.  The artisans never work under high pressure, no strict lead times are calculated, nor is work done as on an assembly line.
